US bans sale and import of Chinese tech from Huawei and ZTE
US has banned the import and sale of products of Chinese telecommunications companies from Huawei and ZTE.
The import and sale of products of Chinese telecommunications companies Huawei and ZTE are banned in the United States. In addition to the two companies in question, the sale of new products of Hytera Communications, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology and Dahua Technology companies was also prohibited.
US FCC bans import and sale of Chinese technology equipments from ZTE, Huawei and more
The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that it has stopped import and sales of equipments from some companies such as Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision and Dahua. In the statement made by the FCC on the subject, it was stated that the new policy step was taken with the aim of "protecting communication networks and strengthening the national security of the country".
FCC stated in its statement that the companies "posed an unacceptable risk" to national security. "New equipments from Huawei and ZTE cannot be licensed under our regulation," FCC official Brandon Carr said on Friday. Carr stated that it is also possible to revoke existing licenses. The FCC official also added that for the first time in the institution's history, new products were not licensed for "national security" reasons.
It is stated that "will do nothing to protect US national security, but will do a great deal to make it more harmful and more expensive for US small businesses, local authorities, school districts, and individual consumers to protect themselves, their homes, businesses and property."
US President Joe Biden signed the law last year to prevent Chinese companies Huawei Technologies Co and ZTE Corp from obtaining new equipment licenses from the US regulator. Supported by both Democrats and Republicans, the FCC had a one-year deadline to implement the law with a new regulation.
