Looking for high salary? You'd better get into AI!
If you're aiming for a high salary, the AI industry should be your destination of choice. Here's why.
Chinese university graduates are navigating a challenging job market, but they've discovered a promising sanctuary in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, as indicated by a recent report from Chinese recruitment platform Liepin.
Looking for high salary? You'd better get into AI!
The report sheds light on the remarkable growth of AI-related jobs, which now offer an average monthly salary of $2600, representing a substantial 40% increase over the past three years. This surge in AI industry salaries can be largely attributed to the soaring demand for generative AI skills, fueled by the competition to develop services akin to ChatGPT.
In the list of lucrative career choices for graduates, blockchain-related positions closely follow AI, accompanied by roles in elderly care services, aviation, aerospace equipment, and communication devices, all offering competitive salaries ranging from $2000 to $2300.
The report underlines a nationwide "talent war," with cities like Xian and Hefei intensifying their investments in the tech sector. Compensation packages have become a pivotal tool for attracting graduates, making them central figures in cities striving to fortify their workforce.
While information technology, the internet, and video gaming have traditionally been favored fields for graduates, there's a noticeable shift in interest toward roles in electronics, telecommunications, and semiconductors, with the number of CV submissions nearly doubling compared to 2021.
Despite a slight dip in the average salary for university graduates in 2023 compared to the previous year, this decline is primarily attributed to macroeconomic uncertainties. Nonetheless, salaries remain higher than those in 2021, underscoring the job market's resilience amidst economic challenges.
In terms of cities, Beijing leads with the highest average salary of $1800, followed by Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, home to tech giants like Baidu and Meituan. This trend emphasizes the concentration of high-paying job opportunities in major urban centers.
The rapid growth in the AI and blockchain sectors aligns with global trends, though these technologies also pose unique challenges.
