iPhone, iPad and Mac series rumored to feature Apple's custom micro-LED displays in a decade
Second-gen Apple Watch Ultra is expected to utilize from in-house tech of Apple, who intends to put these micro-LED displays into iPhone, iPad and Mac series.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg states that after the micro-LED technology debuts in a new version of the Apple Watch Ultra, which is scheduled to launch by the end of 2024, Apple is likely going to bring custom micro-LED displays to the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
micro-LED feature might be a standard for Apple products in a near future
According to Gurman, Apple has been working on micro-LED technology for about six years for what will be the first display designed entirely by the Apple itself, mirroring its work on Apple silicon. Gurman stated earlier this week that Apple intends to introduce the display technology in 2024 with a new Apple Watch Ultra. that is expected to be second-gen in that series.
Around 2017, Apple's microLED project, codenamed T159, is said to have begun. The display is intended to replace components currently supplied by Samsung and LG and offer improved brightness, color reproduction, and viewing angles, making images appear more "painted" atop the display glass.
Gurman anticipates that Apple's custom micro-LED displays will eventually make their way to the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, possibly even later than 2024, when the Apple Watch Ultra makes its debut.
