Apple in works for a cheaper AirPods Lite to compete with budget earbuds
Apple might be preparing a "lite" version of its AirPods as a rival to cheaper earbuds.
Apple has launched four different AirPods model in the history. Famous technology analyst Jeff Pu claimed that the company is currently working on the new "AirPods Lite" to compete with cheaper wireless earbuds.
AirPods Lite will be a cheaper alternative
In a note seen by 9to5Mac, the analyst asserts that the company has been developing "AirPods Lite." Although Pu describes it as a "lower priced product" to compete with cheap earbuds, it is currently unclear what this product is and what features it will have.
Apple has kept the AirPods 2 from the previous generation available in stores at a lower price of $129 until the release of the AirPods 3, which costs $169. Naturally, this "AirPods Lite" should not cost more than $129.
AirPods demand might drop in 2023
Jeff Pu claims in light of his industry sources that interest for AirPods is supposed to drop by 2023. It is anticipated that the number of AirPods shipped will decrease from 73 million in 2022 to 63 million in 2023.
This would be in part because of the "soft AirPods 3 demand" and the possibility that Apple will not release new AirPods this year. However, AirPods Lite might be another remedy to tackle demand issue.
