Turning to the back of the device, it boasts a textured surface which houses a single 13MP camera set within its own ring, accompanied by an LED light. The Tab Active 5's rugged credentials are further underscored by its MIL-STD-810H certification, ensuring its durability. It is also IP68 rated for water and dust resistance and can withstand a 1.2-meter tumble, thanks to its protective case.
The tablet doesn't skimp on functionality, offering S Pen stylus support with IP68 protection to match the tablet's ruggedness. Samsung's commitment to security is evident through the inclusion of Knox security protection, and the device features biometric options like face recognition and fingerprint scanning. Users can also customize a programmable key for quick access to apps or functions. For audio, the device is expected to include a single speaker with Dolby Atmos support.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 is rumored to be equipped with an Exynos 1380 chip, complemented by up to 6GB of RAM and 64/128GB of expandable storage. A 5050mAh battery will power the device. Interestingly, it is anticipated to launch with Android 12. Connectivity options are comprehensive, including 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS.
While Samsung has yet to officially announce the Galaxy Tab Active 5, reports suggest it might be unveiled alongside the Galaxy XCover 7 rugged phone in the first quarter of 2024.
