WhatsApp is pushing all boundaries for high-quality video transmission
WhatsApp, one of the most significant names in the social media world, is doing everything possible to provide its users with the ability to send high-quality files.
The popular messaging platform, WhatsApp, is gearing up to introduce an intriguing new feature for its Android users: the ability to send high-quality videos. This enhancement will be part of the upcoming version 2.23.14.10, which is presently being tested by beta users via the Google Play Beta Program.
Building on the recently introduced high-resolution photo sharing feature, WhatsApp is raising the bar by offering an improved video sharing option. The update introduces a handy button within the drawing editor, allowing users to share videos in superior quality. While the size of the video will remain unchanged, a light compression will be applied. This technique ensures better overall quality without compromising the original dimensions.

However, users should be aware that the high-quality video option won't be enabled by default. Every time they want to share a video in enhanced quality, they will need to manually select this option. This design choice ensures that users can customize their video sharing preferences. In addition, high-quality videos will be automatically tagged in the message bubble, which will enable recipients to easily identify when a video has been shared in this mode.
At present, the high-quality video sharing feature is restricted to a select group of beta testers. Yet, a broader rollout to more users is expected in the following weeks. To check whether the feature is available, users can select a larger-sized video, as the high-quality option might not appear for smaller files.
Currently, this high-quality video sharing feature doesn't extend to status updates. Nevertheless, iOS users of WhatsApp beta can anticipate the same support for high-quality videos in the future. More announcements regarding the expansion of this feature will be made as the rollout progresses.
