The web version of ChatGPT has gained worldwide popularity, leading to OpenAI's decision to introduce a mobile app for the chatbot in the US. The app has rapidly amassed over half a million downloads. Today, OpenAI announced the expansion of the ChatGPT mobile app to an additional 33 countries, among them India, Canada, and the UAE. Nevertheless, for the time being, the app will only cater to iOS users.

Now, iOS users in India and 32 other countries have access to the ChatGPT app, which is hot on the heels of its US rollout just a week prior. The expanded availability includes a broad range of countries such as Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Estonia, Ghana, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, Nauru, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Slovenia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier this week, the app also made its debut in several European countries including France, Germany, and Ireland, as well as in New Zealand, Nigeria, South Korea, and the U.K.

The ChatGPT app, which is downloadable for free from the Apple App Store, maintains the ad-free experience found in the web version. The user-friendly interface is complemented by voice input capabilities via OpenAI's Whisper speech recognition system. Furthermore, advanced features are made available to ChatGPT Plus users through GPT-4.

Though currently restricted to iOS devices, OpenAI is said to be developing an Android version of the app. While the timeline for its release remains unknown, we anticipate it to become available in the forthcoming months. Keep an eye out for further updates.
