Samsung to cut memory chip production: End of an era
South Korean tech giant Samsung has decided to cut memory chip production by %25. Here are all the details.
Samsung Electronics fell by 95% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same time last year. Due to economic problems and global shortage issues, tech giants suffered a lot, including Samsung. As a result, companies had to make some adjustments. According to Daishin Securities' Semiconductor Analyst Minbok Wi, Samsung could cut production of memory chips by 20 to 25 percent in the first half of 2023 in comparison to the same period in 2022.
Samsung to make important changes
Samsung will diminish NAND streak chip creation by 15% and Measure chip creation by more than 20%, beginning in Q3 2023. Analyst Min Seong Hwang at Samsung Securities believes that the company may need to further reduce production if inventory levels do not decrease as anticipated.
Samsung has expressed that it has an adequate stock of memory chips to meet mid to long haul interest and is wanting to diminish the creation of inheritance items. According to The Korea Herald, Samsung will focus on cutting production of low-cost DRAM modules like DDR3 and DDR4 due to their decreasing demand. However, the company has not specified which memory chips will be affected.
