Oppo will launch its own SoC in 2024
OPPO will launch their own SoC in the upcoming years. Here is everything we know so far.
In order to have more control over the processing and computational models of their devices, smartphone manufacturers frequently launch their own chips. Oppo will be the next name to join this club. The company now has its own NPU (Marisilicon X), a connection chip (Marisilicon Y), but lacks a genuine SoC (system-on-a-chip).

A Mediatek executive claimed that Oppo wants a real chipset in order to maintain its competitive edge while speaking at a foreign investment summit in Hsinchu, Taiwan. According to an insider, the Guangdong manufacturer has already taped out its chip, which will be released in 2024. In electronics design, the phrase "taping out" denotes that the integrated circuit design process is finished and the device is prepared to be manufactured.
The rivals in the sector are quite competetive and the competition is fierce. The fact that the conference is being held in Hsinchu is not a coincidence; TSMC established its headquarters in that city in northwest Taiwan, and we may or may not see the manufacturer team up with Oppo.
As previously reported, Oppo established IC design facilities across China, including Beijing, Shenzhen, and Shanghai, for a total investment of more than CNY 10 billion (about $1.4 billion).
