A new report from ABI Research says that Huawei has contributed the most to global 3GPP standard essential patents and 5G technical innovations.
Huawei has been a pioneer with 5G technology
Huawei leads the pack of 20 leading companies in the 5G contributor market, with 15,266 approved contributions and 43,753 total contributions, according to the report. With 11,601 approved contributions and a total of 36,375, Ericson comes in second, followed by Nokia with 7,553 approved contributions and a total of 23,112 contributions.
China is the world leader in the development of 5G patents, accounting for 40% of the over 210,000 5G standard essential patents that have been announced worldwide. The term 5G refers to the fifth generation of globally available wireless network infrastructure. The mobile network technology in question promises its users higher data rate compared to the other four generations, strong reliability features, enhanced network capacity and extremely low latency.
