Google Messages, the default messaging app for Android, is continually getting better. Google Messages is currently testing the capability to respond to a message using any emoji.

There were previously only seven emojis available for responses. After enabling the feature in a previous version, 9to5Google previously confirmed its existence with this information.
Presently when you tap and hold an approaching message on the Google Messages application, you can respond with any emoji. The option to add a new emoji that isn't listed is shown by a new icon in the emoji picker. A pop-up prompt will display all of the names and emojis used in their responses when viewing responses from a group message. At this time, the feature can only be used with the most recent Google Messages Beta release.
