Google Calendar now more functional than ever
A new update brought to the Calendar application by Google will greatly surprise those who use this program.
Google Calendar, always striving to satisfy user needs, is now advancing the working location feature. Since 2021, users have been capable of marking their work location directly on Google Calendar, providing a more comprehensive context for collaboration and scheduling. Now, Google is extending this feature by enabling users to designate working locations for distinct segments of the day, thereby accurately displaying their availability according to their physical location throughout the day.
This enhancement is especially timely given the growing prevalence of hybrid work environments. Employees today may work from home, from an office, or a combination of both. Therefore, Google Calendar's ability to specify working location for different times of the day is instrumental for users to manage their schedules effectively and optimize their productivity.
Google Calendar now more functional than ever
For those who have delegate access to someone else's Google Calendar, the new update extends the ability to edit working locations for the whole day or for specific parts of it. This addition is particularly useful for individuals like executive assistants who manage multiple calendars.
Administrators can choose whether to enable or disable the working location feature on the domain or organizational unit level, giving them control over its application. End users will find the feature enabled by default, enabling them to seamlessly establish sub-day working locations in their calendars. They just need to select "Working Location" as an event type in Calendar, select the desired location, and optionally adjust the time, date, or recurrence.
The deployment of this improved working location feature is already in progress, with rapid-release domains getting immediate access and scheduled release domains beginning to receive the update from July 14, 2023. The feature is accessible to users of Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Standard, Education Plus, the Teaching and Learning Upgrade, and Nonprofits.
