Nowadays there is a strong rivalry among streaming platforms. Platforms such as Netflix, Disney+ and HBO have been adding new shows on their platforms to get better in the game. Considering the though rivalry Disney+ and Hulu decided to join forces.
Two platforms will become one application in late 2023, Disney President Bounce Iger has reported during the organization's most recent profit call. He stated that Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ will continue to be available separately; however, combining the services "is a logical progression" of the company's direct-to-consumer offerings "that will provide greater opportunities for advertisers, while giving bundle subscribers access to more robust and streamlined content."
Disney+ and Hulu are becoming one
Given that Comcast still owns 33% of Hulu, this announcement suggests that Disney may be considering purchasing the stake in the cable TV and media company. However, Iger only stated that Disney has held "constructive" discussions with Comcast regarding the future of Hulu. He did not go into detail about the plans of the company.
While Disney detailed (PDF) a 26 percent decline in working misfortunes for its streaming business, a $659 million misfortune is as yet gigantic. Given that the business had promised investors that it would be profitable by the end of the 2024 fiscal year, they are doing their best to get better.
