Bad news from Xiaomi for users of these models
The Chinese tech company Xiaomi announced the suspension of MIUI development versions for 13 different models.
Xiaomi recently announced a halt to MIUI 14 Beta's development for several of its devices. Altogether, 13 smartphones will no longer see updates for this version. Among the older devices affected are the Xiaomi 11, Xiaomi 11 Pro, Xiaomi 11 Ultra, Redmi K40S, Redmi Note 11T Pro, and Redmi Note 11T Pro+. After September 22, 2023, these devices will cease receiving beta updates. However, users can still anticipate stable MIUI 14 and Android 14 releases for these models.
Additionally, Xiaomi has halted MIUI's development version rooted in Android 13 for several newer models, including the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi MIX Fold 3, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, Redmi K60 Pro, and Redmi K60. Starting September 23, these devices won't get the MIUI 14 Beta update. Yet, there's a silver lining for users of these devices. Xiaomi confirmed a re-release of the development version for these models once they transition to Android 14.
Bad news from Xiaomi for users of these models
Currently, the MIUI 15, which is based on Android 14, is undergoing tests for these smartphones. We can expect its release in the upcoming weeks. Moreover, October 13 is the date when Xiaomi plans to resume the MIUI 15 development version.
For clarity, MIUI's development version is essentially a test version rolled out to a limited number of users before the official release. Its primary role is to detect and rectify bugs and also to try out new features. Due to its test nature, it's inherently less stable than the official release and isn't recommended for daily use. Conversely, MIUI's official version has undergone thorough testing, ensuring it's optimized for daily operations, making it the go-to version for the broader public.
