Apple's AirTag security feature has helped someone in a surprising way
Apple has offered AirTag security features long time ago and now they have proven their worth again.
The AirTag from Apple is a useful tool for finding lost items, but it could also be used for stalking. The device lets users see where their belongings are, but it could be used to track other people's movements without their knowledge or consent. AirTag has, thankfully, safety features built in to prevent its use for stalking. A woman was successfully shielded from being stalked in one instance thanks to these security measures.
Apple's AirTag security feature has helped someone in a surprising way
In an effort to track the victims' movements, Carl Steven Shawver, 63, attached an AirTag to their vehicle. The victim, on the other hand, was notified of the AirTag by Apple's built-in safety features, which informed them of the device's presence. Shawver then made the claim that the victim was having an affair at the station when he showed up at the local police department, where the victim had gone to report the stalking.
The victim was informed that two additional AirTags were following their movements, even though no arrests had been made up to this point. The second AirTag was discovered by West Des Moines Police officers "placed in a wallet and inside a plastic sandwich bag sitting on top of the spare tire." The third AirTag was eventually discovered in a case and wrapped in plastic on the car's subframe near the front passenger tire.
