Technology giant Apple is reportedly will start using the US-made chips starting 2024. Here is all the details we know.
We are going through very busy times for Apple. The waters have not calmed since the company introduced the brand new iPhone 14 series. Company CEO Tim Cook reportedly made the admission, telling them that Apple "already made a decision to be buying out of a plant in Arizona."It would reduce Apple's reliance on factories in Asia, particularly Taiwan, where 60% of the world's processors are manufactured, as noted by Gurman.Cook continued, "60 percent coming out of anywhere is probably not a strategic position, regardless of what you may feel or think."
Apple intends to use TSMC's newest and most advanced 3-nanometer chipmaking process for future devices, according to previous reports. The A17 mobile processor that Apple is currently developing for its 2023 iPhone lineup will be mass produced using the new technology, according to the Financial Times. It is unclear whether TSMC intends to upgrade the Arizona plant or if Apple will only use it for older, less advanced chips.
