Apple rolls out iPhone emergency SOS via satellite
Introducing the Emergency SOS feature via satellite with the iPhone 14, Apple launched the emergency feature today. The feature is currently only available in the US and Canada.
Along with the iPhone 14 series, Apple also announced a new feature that will save lives. It has been announced that the emergency SOS feature on iPhones can now be available via satellites. In this way, devices will be able to benefit from emergency services directly via satellite, even from points where no signal is received.
iPhone emergency SOS via satellite is now available
The feature, which was not available on the day the iPhone 14 was released, has been made available to users today. Apple rolled out emergency SOS via satellite feature to users in US and Canada.
Apple also listed other countries where the feature will be available soon. According to the shared statement, the feature will also be available in France, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom in December.
How does Apple's emergency SOS via satellite and how to use it?
As Apple stated, iPhone sends your current location, after you enter SOS mode, then your emergency contacts receive updates when your location changes.
On iPhone 14 series, you can even use emergency SOS via satellite to text emergency services when no cellular and Wi-Fi coverage is available. Later on, relay center reaches to emergency services to help you.
To use it, open Settings app or tap to power buttons 5 times and tap Emergency SOS, under this section you will see SOS via satellite and follow the onscreen instructions.
