Apple's brand new iPhones come equipped with a satellite connection that can be used to send SOS messages in case of an emergency when there is no cellular signal available. In supported nations, the service is free for two years after purchase for all iPhone 14 users running iOS 16.1.

European Emergency Number Association CEO Gary Machado stated, "It means that many more people will be able to contact 112 when they have no mobile coverage and need urgent assistance." We are confident that this will significantly assist emergency services in dealing with these frequently complicated rescues and save many lives." 

Either a five-second rapid press of the power button or a long press of the power and volume buttons will start Emergency SOS via satellite. The user interface shows you which way to point your iPhone to get the best signal. Once associated, you can open a message connect with crisis specialist organizations, and the telephone will likewise impart your area. You will receive a message informing you that responders have been notified and to remain where you are if everything goes according to plan.
