WhatsApp continues its streak of innovation, consistently adding a plethora of new features to its platform in recent years. With noteworthy additions such as seamless data transfer between Android and iOS devices and the convenience of logging into a single WhatsApp account across multiple devices, the messaging giant has been at the forefront of enhancing user experiences. Building upon its success, WhatsApp is now gearing up to introduce another groundbreaking feature: screen sharing. This highly anticipated capability is poised to revolutionize communication by allowing users to effortlessly share their screens, enabling enhanced collaboration, troubleshooting, and immersive interactions on the platform. As WhatsApp paves the way for this major addition, users can expect even more versatility and connectivity in their messaging endeavors.
WhatsApp to introduce revolutionary screen sharing feature!
WhatsApp is reportedly developing a feature that enables users to share their smartphone screens with others during video calls, as per a report by WABetaInfo. Currently available in the latest beta version (2.23.11.19) for Android devices through the Google Play Store, this feature simplifies the process of displaying content from one's phone to others during a video call. Additionally, it offers the advantage of seeking assistance from others while performing tasks on the phone.
How to use screen sharing feature in WhatsApp?
During a video call on WhatsApp, a new icon has been introduced at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on this icon triggers a pop-up menu, seeking permission to share the smartphone screen and informing users that all the content on the screen will be visible to other participants in the video call. Users have complete control over the screen sharing function and can stop it at any time by clicking the designated "Stop Sharing" button.
This feature bears resemblance to Google Meet's Live Sharing feature, which was introduced a couple of years ago, and Apple's SharePlay feature available on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices. The new screen-sharing functionality on WhatsApp is expected to be particularly helpful for individuals such as the elderly or children who may require assistance in navigating their phones and completing tasks.
