Twitter's Head of Safety states that election integrity is a "top priority."
Twitter has been going through some changes after Elon Musk's take over, including massive layoffs where almost half of the employee will be cut off.
Even though Twitter has cut half of its staff in the last 24 hours, the company's top safety officer says election integrity is a "top priority." Yoel Roth, head of safety at Twitter and one of the company's most successful survivors of mass layoffs, took to Twitter to downplay concerns about moderation that activists and advertisers have raised in recent days.
Roth tweeted, "Our front-line moderation staff experienced the least impact of yesterday's reduction in force, which affected approximately 15% of our Trust & Safety organization (as opposed to approximately 50% cuts company-wide)."

Last week, for security reasons, we restricted access to our internal tools for some users, including some members of my team. Most of the 2,000+ content moderators working on front-line review were not impacted, and access will be fully restored in the coming days.

Again, to be crystal clear, Twitter’s strong commitment to content moderation remains absolutely unchanged.

In fact, we have actually seen hateful speech at times this week decline *below* our prior norms, contrary to what you may read in the press.
NBC News reported that Twitter's curation team, which worked to combat fake news on the platform, was completely eliminated. In addition, numerous employees in policy and communications, as well as engineering positions that deal with safety concerns, were eliminated.
