Twitter will now alert you if this happens
Twitter has been going under so many changes ever since Elon Musk bought the platform and now more are adding.
With the help of likes and retweets, fake news can spread quickly on Twitter, but now you'll be warned if you've helped spread one of these falsehoods. As of today, the company announced in a tweet picked up by TechCrunch that you'll receive a notification if a tweet you've liked, commented on, or retweeted gets a Community Note indicating potential misinformation.

Starting today, you’ll get a heads up if a Community Note starts showing on a Tweet you’ve replied to, Liked or Retweeted. This helps give people extra context that they might otherwise miss. pic.twitter.com/LIcGgl2zdJ

In a quote post, CEO Elon Musk praised the initiative and called Community Notes a "game changer for combating false information."
Birdwatch, a "community-driven strategy" that crowdsources fact-checks from other Twitter users, was the predecessor to Community Notes when it first debuted in 2021. Though it has fired a lot of content censors, Twitter now depends on it more than ever. All users can read notes, but as of right now, only users from the US, UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand can add them.
