TikTok will limit the screen time for teens
In the past years, many young people who lost their lives due to the challenge videos on the platform came to the agenda. The platform has faced a lot of criticism and is now taking active steps to prevent this problem and increase security. According to an update, teenagers under the age of 18 will now automatically default to a daily screen time restriction of 60 minutes.
Teens will still be able to exceed the daily limit after the change, but doing so will require them to enter a passcode, forcing them to "make an active choice to extend that time". With these updates the company plans to have a safe community and address some of the security issues. TikTok will also remind teens to establish a limit if they spend more than 100 minutes in the app, even if they decide to completely disable the screen time limit.
