TikTok is sued once more, this time by Indiana
TikTok has been having hard times with different lawsuits and now another case has popped up.
TikTok is currently facing its first state lawsuit. TikTok has been sued by the Attorney General of Indiana for allegedly violating child safety and misleading users regarding China's data access. The company has been having hard time dealing with different lawsuits from time to time but now it looks like things get a bit more serious.

By failing to warn users that the Chinese government could theoretically obtain sensitive data, the social media service is said to have violated state consumer law. The company, which is owned by ByteDance, is also said to have lied to customers by giving its app a rating of "12+" on the App Store and Google Play, despite the fact that kids could easily find content about drugs and sex. For each violation, Indiana wants fines of up to $5,000. It is also asking a state Superior Court to stop marketing the app to young teens and stop the allegedly misleading claims about data handling.
The lawsuit exacerbates TikTok's issues that have emerged in recent weeks. The governor of Maryland imposed a ban on using the app on state government devices due to security concerns, following South Dakota's similar action at the end of November. Additionally, sources cited by the Wall Street Journal claim that a potential deal for national security with the Biden administration has once again stalled. This summer, TikTok reached a tentative agreement, but some officials are concerned that it did not restrict China's access sufficiently. The outcome of the lawsuit is uncertain for the time being.
