TikTok is going to be banned; the bill to ban the app has passed
TikTok has been having some hard time with bills that want to ban the application. Here are the details.
TikTok has faced ban situations in the past. Now apparently the law banning the practice has been passed. A significant milestone has been reached by the No TikTok on Government Devices Act, which was introduced by Senator Josh Hawley (R-Missouri). The bill, which will prohibit the TikTok app from being installed on any phone or other device owned by the government, has been unanimously approved by the US Senate.

ByteDance, the app's parent company based in China, has been given approval, highlighting authorities' concerns that it may share information gathered from US users with the Chinese government. The Chinese government could use TikTok to launch "influence operations" or "technically compromise" millions of devices, according to FBI Director Chris Wray's warning to lawmakers a month ago.
According to Bloomberg, the bill makes exceptions for "law enforcement activities, national security interests and activities, and security researchers" despite its intention to prohibit the installation of TikTok on government devices. Hawley referred to the app as a "Trojan Horse for the Chinese Communist Party" and stated that it should not be installed on government devices until all ties with China are severed. "Hawley has moved forward with... a proposal which does nothing to advance US national security interests," TikTok spokesperson Brooke Oberwetter told Bloomberg. Added Oberwetter: We hope that he will urge the administration to move forward with an agreement that actually addresses his concerns rather than continuing down that path."
