This impressive achievement highlights the immense popularity and demand for Threads, positioning it as a formidable competitor to established social media platforms like Twitter. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, has officially confirmed the significant milestone achieved by Threads.

Mosseri stated: “100 million people signed up for Threads in five days. I’m not sure I can wrap my mind around that fact. It’s insane; I can’t make sense of it,".

“The team has been busting their ass, but we know this is a race to the starting line. They say “make it work, make it great, make it grow.” Well, we certainly did things out of order, but I promise we will make this thing great.” he added.

This record held by ChatGPT until Threads

While ChatGPT set an impressive record as the fastest-growing consumer application by surpassing 100 million users within two months of its launch back in February, Threads has achieved a groundbreaking feat by accomplishing the same milestone in just five days.

100 million users milestone is cool but do they actively use the app?

The Instagram team now faces the challenge of retaining and engaging users with Threads. The initial version of the app, labeled as 1.0, is relatively minimalistic, lacking extensive features.

While attracting users to sign up for the app may have been an easier task, the true test lies in creating an experience that encourages users to stay and actively participate.
