Linus Tech Tips YouTube channel goes dark after malicious hack by crypto scammers
The YouTube channel of Linus Tech Tips was hacked by crypto scammers who eventually deleted the channel.
In a cryptocurrency market that is rife with fraudulent activities, there has been a surge in the number of crypto scams, mainly due to the fact that the concept of decentralized digital currency is still relatively new to many people.
Recently, the popular tech-focused YouTube channel, Linus Tech Tips, was unexpectedly hit by a crypto scam that involved the channel being hacked by scammers who spread false advertisements about Bitcoin.
Linus Tech Tips YouTube channel hacked by crypto scammers and deleted
Reports indicate that during the early hours of the morning, the Linus Media Group's YouTube channel, Linus Tech Tips, was hacked by scammers who were able to gain access to the channel. The scammers proceeded to run several livestreams that were focused on Elon Musk and Bitcoin, while also making private videos public and deleting a significant amount of popular videos from the channel.
The scammers encouraged viewers to send cryptocurrency, which ultimately resulted in the deletion of the channel. The attack also affected other Linus Media Group channels, such as Techquickie and TechLinked. While the group has not yet provided an official response to the hack, a playful tweet was sent out on the Linus Tech Tips Twitter account suggesting that fans could still watch videos on ShortCircuit, another channel owned by Linus Media Group that was not affected by the hack.
