Elon Musk has mistakenly shared a quote by Neo-Nazi thinking it was Voltarie. Twitter users on Saturday were quick to point out that a quote shared by Elon Musk, is incorrectly attributed to Voltaire, even though it actually belongs to a Neo-Nazi.

A big hand is seen crushing the struggling figures in the billionaire's witty tweet, adding, "You just need to find out who you're not allowed to criticize to find out who's running you." There was a mime accompanied by the words "Voltaire". Below this image was the humorous comment on my mime: We must rise up against children with leukemia.

Exactly the same "Voltaire" quote, notwithstanding, was the subject of a reality check piece last year from The Related Press after Conservative Kentucky Senator Thomas Massie shared it in a tweet scrutinizing Dr Anthony Fauci, likewise crediting the words to the French scholar. According to AP, "Enlightenment writer Voltaire did not say this." The quote was taken from a 1993 radio interview with Kevin Alfred Strom, who has been labeled a neo-Nazi by organizations that track hate groups.
