Andrew Tate arrested in Romania over human trafficking and rape case
Andrew Tate to be detained in Romania for 30 days along with his brother.
Former kickboxer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate were detained in Romania. According to the US-based broadcaster Semafor and the Romanian-based Libertatea and Gândul newspapers, the police detained the Tate brothers as part of their investigation into human trafficking.
The court, at the request of the police, set the detention period as 30 days. Reuters news agency has also reported that in addition to human trafficking, rape charges were also brought against these names. Reuters also stated that their lawyers did not make a statement but confirmed that they were detained.
In the statement of the prosecutors, it was stated that Tate brothers "forced the women to create pornographic images and thus earned huge sums of money". It was added to the statement that there were six women who were sexually harassed by the suspects.
The spokesperson of the Tate has told Daily Mirror that they could not give details that are related to the arrest. "However, Andrew and Tristan Tate have the utmost respect for the Romanian authorities and will always assist and help in any way they can," the spokesperson added.
Outside the courtroom in Bucharest, the Tate brothers' lawyer, Eugen Vidineac, said they would appeal the detention decision.
