Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series unveiled: Here's everything you wanted to know
The eagerly awaited new smartwatch series Galaxy Watch 6, by South Korean tech titan Samsung, has officially been introduced.
Samsung introduced its much-anticipated Galaxy Watch 6 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea today. The new series, which includes the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, boast upgrades in health tracking features. A highlight of the Watch 6 Classic is the return of the beloved rotating bezel. The watch models come in varying sizes from 40mm to 47mm and support both LTE and Bluetooth v5.3 connectivity.
In the Galaxy Watch 6 series, Samsung's focus was primarily on the bezels. The Watch 6 Classic model brings back the fan-favorite rotating bezel, while the standard Galaxy Watch 6 version sports a thinner bezel compared to its predecessor. Both models showcase Sapphire Crystal Super AMOLED panels that come with a full color Always-On-Display (AOD).

Thinner bezels mean the 40mm version of the Galaxy Watch 6 now features a 1.3-inch screen, with the larger 44mm version boasting a 1.5-inch display. The 40mm model houses a 300mAh battery while the 44mm version carries a larger 400mAh unit. Similarly, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic in 43mm has a 1.3-inch screen, and the 47mm variant is equipped with a 1.5-inch panel, with battery capacities identical to the standard model. Samsung promises that these wearables can deliver up to 30 hours of battery life with AOD on and up to 40 hours with it turned off.
The Galaxy Watch 6 series puts a lot of emphasis on health tracking. Samsung employs heart rate and temperature sensors to offer comprehensive sleep tracking. Both the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic come with a comprehensive list of sensors, including the Samsung BioActive Sensor for optical heart rate, electrical heart signal, and bioelectrical impedance analysis. Furthermore, they contain an accelerometer, barometer, gyro, geomagnetic sensor, and light sensor.
The new watch models run on Google’s Wear OS-based One UI 5 and support WPC-based wireless fast charging. The connectivity options are abundant, ranging from LTE, Wi-Fi 2, NFC, and GPS. Plus, each model in the Galaxy Watch 6 series comes with 5ATM and IP68 ratings, reinforcing their durability.
The Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic are priced starting at $299 and $399, respectively. Both models are available for pre-order in certain markets as of today and will officially go on sale on August 11th. Customers can choose between Bluetooth and LTE options for both models.
