Pixel Watch 2 appeared in a new certification process
Google's eagerly anticipated smartwatch model, Pixel Watch 2, underwent another certification procedure.
Last year, Google unveiled the Google Watch, boasting an Exynos 9110 SoC. Given its sales and selective availability in certain countries, the device has garnered success. Now, there's chatter about the Pixel Watch 2. Recent information hints at a broader release for this upcoming device. Crucially, the Pixel Watch 2 has made an appearance on the FCC, revealing some more details about the product.
Three distinct Pixel Watch 2 models have been listed on the FCC: G4TSL, GC3G8, and GD2WG. Of these, the latter two are LTE-based, while G4TSL is the Bluetooth/WiFi variant. Moreover, FCC documents for all three models reference four strap options: Plastic Active Strap, Metal Mesh Strap, Metal Link Strap, and Metal Slim Strap.
In testing, all three variants utilized a G1000 18W PD charger, though this doesn't necessarily mean it will be included with the product.
Pixel Watch 2 appeared in a new certification process
Past information suggests the Pixel Watch 2 might be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform, as opposed to the Exynos 9110 SoC of its predecessor. Battery-wise, the Pixel Watch 2 is anticipated to house a 306 mAh battery, a step up from the previous 294 mAh. There's also word about a 1.2-inch circular OLED display, boasting a 384×384 pixel resolution from Samsung Display. It seems Google may be opting for a different manufacturer for the Pixel Watch 2's screen. The watch is also likely to offer Ultra-Wideband (UWB) support, facilitating features like car unlocking using a digital key, better device tracking, and integrated media playback on other devices. Lastly, the software is expected to be based on the Android 13-powered Wear OS 4. There are hints of an Indian launch, given regulatory markings, but international availability remains uncertain.
