Google Pixel Watch takes a dig at Apple with new Fall Detection feature in latest update
The Google Pixel Watch has received an update that includes the fall detection feature.
Smartwatches can be good for many people, as they offer a variety of features and functions that can be useful in daily life. Many modern smartwatches come equipped with fall detection capabilities. These watches are designed to sense when the wearer has taken a hard fall and may be in need of assistance.
The fall detection feature, which was first introduced in the Apple Watch, is now also available on Google's latest smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, as announced by Paras Unadkat and Edward Shi, Product Managers of Google Pixel Watch.
When enabled, the feature uses motion sensors and machine learning algorithms to detect if the wearer has experienced a hard fall. If there is no movement or response within a certain period of time, the watch can automatically call for emergency services.
"We strive to make our products and services work better for you. When you set up fall detection, you’ll also have the option to toggle on a setting called 'Help improve fall detection,' where we may collect the motion sensor data of events detected as falls to make future improvements for this feature. You can also turn off fall detection at any time if you no longer want the feature enabled." Unadkat and Shi stated in their blog post.
If you want to use fall detection feature on your Pixel Watch, you can easily turn it on either in the Watch Companion app's 'Updates' page or directly in the Personal Safety app on the watch.
