As the tech giant gears up for the release of its second-generation Pixel Watch, rumors abound that it will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. Notably, the upcoming wearable is said to undergo a makeover, with a recent report indicating a switch to an aluminum case. While this change might reduce its weight, it also raises concerns about potential vulnerability to damage.

Based on information from a 9to5Google report, the Google Pixel Watch 2 is undergoing a significant makeover, transitioning from stainless steel in its first generation to an aluminum construction. This change is likely to result in a reduction in weight for the second-generation wearable, possibly making it lighter than its predecessor. The original Pixel Watch weighed around 36 grams without straps, which, compared to other smartwatch options in the market, positioned it on the heavier side. The switch to aluminum could address this concern and offer users a more lightweight and comfortable experience.

According to the report, alongside the launch of the Google Pixel Watch 2, the tech giant is gearing up to introduce new "Coach" branded workouts within a revamped Fitbit app. The redesigned app is expected to come with several fresh features, including a new user interface and metrics. Additionally, a previous report disclosed that the upcoming Pixel Watch 2 will be powered by the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform chipset and will be available in two variants, with one model equipped with an LTE modem. Both models will feature a 41mm case compatible with Google's watch straps, and the Pixel Watch 2 is likely to maintain a similar design to its predecessor, boasting the same captivating domed glass edge-to-edge construction.
