Apple finally introduced a real power-saving mode to extend the watch's battery life when needed in a new watchOS 9 update. It can be turned on manually via the settings menu or Control Center. It is interesting to note that the watch will disable Wi-Fi and cellular connections if there is no iPhone nearby. Additionally, notifications and incoming calls are disabled.
