Second most common cause of death in the world: Bacteria
According to the latest research, heart diseases come first. Even though corona virüs and flu take lives we have some other enemies as well.
Diseases caused by infection with bacteria are the second leading cause of death in the world after heart-related diseases, according to the latest research. In the study published on Tuesday, November 22, it was stated that 'staphylococcus aureus' and 'pneumococcus' are among the deadliest bacteria. The study, published in The Lancet, examined nearly 30 species of bacteria known as the most common pathogens and evaluated the mortality rates associated with them.
The work was funded by the Bill Gates Foundation. This unprecedented study, involving thousands of international researchers, was conducted as part of the Global Burden of Disease program.
One in eight deaths is caused by bacteria
The report's authors concluded that diseases associated with the bacterial strains studied constitute the second leading cause of death worldwide, after coronary heart disease, primarily heart attack. One in eight deaths was caused by bacteria, according to a review of 7.7 million deaths. However, the data is from 2019, before the outbreak of the Kovid-19 pandemic.
Five of the 30 bacterial species examined; Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pneumococcus, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were cited as the cause of more than half of the deaths.
