Protestor arrested after throwing eggs at King Charles and Queen Camilla
An egg was thrown at King Charles and Camilla during their visit in York. The person who carried out the protest was detained by police.
King Charles and his wife were to unveil a statue of Queen Elizabeth II, during their visit in York city. When Charles and Camilla was greeting the crowd, gathered to salute their respects to the king, a protester in the crowd threw eggs at the King and Queen. Police officers immediately took action to arrest the protestor. Later on, the protestor was taken into custody and questioning.
The 23-year-old man who threw eggs at King Charles was heard shouting "This country was built on the blood of slaves" as he was detained by four police officers. It was seen that the eggs fell in front of the King, but did not hit him and Queen.
When that the eggs thrown by the protester did not hit anyone, the King and Queen were evacuated from area. Others in the crowd reacted to the protester by shouting "God save the King". Some people said to protestor "Shame on you!" Luckily, the King and Queen were not hurt by this protest. The King and Queen were also unruffled at that time.
The King and Queen visit York for a number of engagements, in addition to the first installation of a statue of the Queen Elizabeth since her death.
