Number of Syrian refugees becoming German citizens has been shocking
According to statistics released on Friday, three times as many Syrians who fled to Germany between 2014 and 2016 qualified for naturalization in 2021.
According to the Federal Statistical Office, the total number of foreigners who became naturalized Germans increased by 20% in 2021, hitting about 131,600. 19,100 of them—Syrians—became residents of Germany. There are many interesting things that are happening as well. For example Ryyan Alshebl, 29, who fled the war in Syria and immigrated to Germany in 2015, became mayor of the town of Ostelsheim in the southwestern part of the country.

The Syrian refugee, who managed to become the mayor 8 years after coming to Germany, managed to get 55.41 percent of the valid votes in Ostelsheim, which has a population of 2,500. In 2022, more Syrians are anticipated to become citizens. More than four times as many Syrian nationals lived in Germany for at least six years at the beginning of this year (449,00) as there were at the same time in 2021, the office noted.
Some people think this is a problem to be concerned while others support the idea fully. Especially after the earthquake that happened in Turkey, Syria also has had harder times.
