NASA's Artemis 1 returns to Kennedy Space Center
2022 was an active year for NASA. The space agency was pretty busy with different tests, and now some of them have ended.
At the start of last month of 2022, NASA's Artemis 1 Orion spacecraft returned to the Kennedy Space Center after traveling 1.4 million miles to the Moon and back. The return to home took place on December 30. This ended a successful journey at the same time when a year ended.

On December 11, Artemis 1 crashed into the Pacific Ocean. On December 13, the unmanned crew vehicle was recovered by the USS Portland and brought to Naval Base San Diego. The next day, the capsule set out by land to Florida. On November 16, a memorable nighttime launch atop NASA's next-generation Space Launch System heavy-lift rocket kicked off Artemis 1's record-breaking journey.
NASA will remove Orion's heat shield now that it is back at Kennedy Space Center so that it can carry out an "extensive analysis" of the component and find out exactly how it fared during atmospheric reentry.
