The number of listenings to the song released by the Canadian artist at the end of 2019 reached 3 billion 335 million 999 thousand 971 as of today.

British pop star Ed Sheeran's second place Shape of You was listened to 3 billion 333 million 896 thousand 760 times. The Weeknd also celebrated this success with a tweet: Happy new year to Blinding Lights.

Blinding Lights, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, was included in the 4th studio album of the 32-year-old famous singer, After Hours, and broke the record by being on the Billboard Hot 100 list for 90 weeks. The record was set in October 2022 by Glass Animals, with Hheat Waves remaining 91 weeks on the chart.
The Weeknd, who released his 5th and last studio album Dawn FM on January 7, 2022, is also the 4th most listened artist worldwide this year.
