Gay Sex is finally legalized in Singapore
Singapore has officially repealed a law that made homosexuality illegal during the colonial era.
Finally, Singaporean law no longer considered the couple's relationship illegal. Xue, one of the co-founders of the LGBTQ youth group Young OUT Here in the area, told VICE World News, "We never thought that this would happen in our lifetime. "Xue felt a "huge sense of relief" upon hearing the repeal announcement, as he had come out as gay nearly two decades prior and supported the local queer community for the majority of his life.

Despite decriminalizing sex between men, Singapore's parliament has amended the constitution to effectively prevent full marriage equality. Although the law was not actively enforced, sex between men was punished by up to two years in prison under British colonial legislation. The LGBTQ+ community had long been criticized for being stigmatized and discriminated against by the law. The decision made by the parliament comes after unsuccessful court attempts to repeal the legislation.
