In a letter to employees that was posted yesterday, CEO Andy Jassy stated that Amazon's layoffs that were announced on Wednesday would continue into the beginning of 2023.

He stated that over the past few years, the company had "hired rapidly," but "the economy remains in a challenging spot.""There will be more role reductions as leaders continue to make adjustments," he added, as annual planning now extends into the new year. Jassy mentioned that there would be "reductions in our Stores and PXT [people, experience, and technology] organizations," but she did not specify how many employees would be laid off or when.He went on to say that affected employees will be informed by the company long before any layoffs are made public.
"Some roles will no longer be required," according to Dave Limp, Amazon's hardware division chief, in a statement on Wednesday.The changes could lead to the loss of up to 10,000 jobs, according to a report in The New York Times.The company stated that it would provide employees with "a package that includes a separation payment, transitional benefits, and external job placement support" in addition to extending voluntary buyouts.
