A long waited Avatar has finally made it on the theaters. The movie has gathered attention from feminists as well.
Famous director James Cameron said that the strong female characters in Avatar's sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, displayed much more feminist representations compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MSE) and DC Cinematic Universe (DCU).

Speaking to Variety, Cameron stated that they made a difference by writing the main character of the series, Neytiri, as a pregnant warrior in the sequel. Although the famous director emphasized that Wonder Woman from DCU and Captain Marvel from MSE are very important characters, he said that they broke the boundaries of strong female representations in his new film.
Cameron used the following statements: Everyone is talking about women's empowerment. But what is there that matters a lot in women's lives that men don't experience? And I thought, 'If you're into women's empowerment, you have to go all the way. Let's write a 6 months pregnant female warrior!' The famous director also compared his movie with other superhero productions in other interviews he gave while the vision date of Avatar 2 was approaching. "In superhero movies, the characters act like students," Cameron told the New York Times in October.
