Apple to pay $17 Million fine
Following a ruling in July 2022, the Cupertino-based giant received its most recent fine. The reson for the penalty looks like App Store rules violated local laws. Developers had been restricted to using the company's payment system by these regulations. To put it another way, the FAS basically decided that Apple was taking advantage of its regional market dominance.
“App Store rules prohibited iOS app developers from informing in-app customers about the possibility to pay for purchases outside of the App Store, as well as from using alternative payment methods,” the regulator stated in an official statement.
The business demanded that application developers remove links to their own websites and modify the application's functionality to prevent registration forms from leading to other websites.
