BUCHAREST, ROMANIA (TechtUSA) - Andrew Tate, a controversial influencer, and his brother have been released from detention in Romania after being held for three months. They have been placed under house arrest while authorities investigate allegations of human trafficking and rape.

Tate is currently under investigation along with his younger brother and two Romanian women for alleged crimes including forming an organized criminal group, human trafficking, and rape.

The brothers were arrested in late December and have been held in pre-trial detention since then, with their detention being extended until last week.

However, an appeals court rejected the prosecution's proposal for further detention and ordered that the brothers be placed under house arrest, according to a court ruling seen by AFP.

Andrew and Tristan Tate, accompanied by their Romanian legal representatives, were released from the police central arrest premises in Bucharest at midnight (2100 GMT). As they arrived at their home, Andrew Tate expressed his relief at being released and thanked the judges for their decision.

Despite the charges against him, Tate was greeted by supporters cheering and celebrating his release. He also commented on the emotional toll of being detained in one room since last year.
