Amazon announced that they started huge layoffs after Twitter. Here is all we know so far.
Twitter recently had a huge layoff in the company and now it looks like Amazon is also joining the layoff club. Big companies like Meta and Twitter have already done some huge layoffs due to global economic crisis and now Amazon is also following. Layoffs have been confirmed by head of Amazon's hardware division. According to Dave Limp, who oversees Amazon's Devices & Services division, the company will "consolidate some teams and programs" and "some roles will no longer be required."

In a note to employees that was shared by Amazon, Limp wrote, "It pains me to have to deliver this news as we know we will lose talented Amazonians from the Devices & Services org as a result. While I am aware that this information is difficult to process, I would like to emphasize that Amazon will continue to invent for the benefit of its customers and that the Devices & Services organization remains a significant investment area". Although Limp did not specify the number of affected employees, a previous report in The New York Times suggested that as many as 10,000 positions might be eliminated as a result of the layoffs.
Limp stated that Amazon was offering "a package that includes a separation payment, transitional benefits, and external job placement support" to its employees .He also said that some employees might be able to switch jobs at Amazon. An Amazon spokesperson said in a statement that "some teams are making adjustments," but she didn't say how the cuts would affect the team or employees."We always look at each of our businesses and look at what we believe we should change as part of our annual operating planning review process," the spokesperson stated.
