In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron stated that he is considering retiring after shooting 5-6 more films in his directorial career. The 68-year-old famous director stated that he plans three of these films to be sequels to Avatar. Saying that he is open to the 6th and 7th productions of the series, Cameron said, "Then I will be 89 years old. Considering the energy required by this process, it is clear that I cannot make Avatar movies forever."
Stating that he can transfer the directorship of the series to someone else, Cameron said, "I may have to train someone to teach him to do this. It doesn't matter how smart you are as a director, you don't know how to shoot these movies," he said.
