The International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker has released preliminary data indicating that worldwide smartphone sales decreased by 9.7% to 301.9 million units in Q3 2022. Apple was the only major vendor to see an increase year over this year. Samsung and Xiaomi experienced single-digit declines, while Vivo and OPPO experienced double-digit declines.
Vendors' market share remained unchanged despite the difficult economic circumstances. Apple had a 17.2% share, Xiaomi 13.4%, and Samsung had a 21.2% share in Q3. In addition, OPPO and vivo tied for fourth place in the quarter with 8.6% of the market share.
