WhatsApp is preparing to cut support for many popular phones
WhatsApp, the world's most used internet-based communication service, made a decision to end support for certain models.
From October 24, 2023, WhatsApp will discontinue support for Android smartphones operating on Android OS 5.0 or earlier versions, as well as iPhones operating on iOS 12 or earlier versions. Consequently, these devices will no longer receive updates, encompassing both feature enhancements and security patches.
To determine if your smartphone falls into this category, you can inspect your device's operating system version. For Android users, this can be done by navigating to Settings > About phone > Software information. iPhone users, on the other hand, can find this information under Settings > General > About.

The operating systems that will continue to enjoy WhatsApp support are as follows:
Android 5.1 and subsequent versions.
iPhones with iOS 12 or newer.
WhatsApp's decision to periodically reassess the operating systems it supports stems from its commitment to delivering an optimal user experience. Generally, when an operating system loses WhatsApp support, it's often because the system has either become obsolete in terms of broad usage or no longer meets the security standards set by WhatsApp.
