Vivo X100 Pro disappoints in stress test, issue may lie with Dimensity 9300

Vivo's new X100 Pro model underperformed in stress tests, leading experts to speculate that the problem might be associated with its Dimensity 9300 processor.

Recently, the Vivo X100 Pro, a flagship smartphone from Vivo, underwent a stress test that yielded some concerning results. The test, aimed at evaluating the device's performance under extreme conditions, revealed a significant performance drop, which is believed to be linked to its System on Chip (SoC), the MediaTek Dimensity 9300.

The X100 Pro, a high-end device featuring MediaTek's latest flagship processor, faced considerable thermal throttling during the stress test. This was reported by Sahil Karoul and shared on a tech platform, where it was found that the Dimensity 9300 on the Vivo X100 Pro throttled down to just 46 percent of its maximum performance after only two minutes into the benchmark. This drastic reduction in performance caused one of the cores to slow down to 0.6GHz, significantly lower than its maximum clock speed of 3.25GHz.

A separate report by NotebookCheck delved into the specifics of the Dimensity 9300, highlighting that the processor lacks efficiency cores. This absence could lead to throttling issues, especially since the high-powered Cortex-X4 cores draw more power. While this configuration allows for remarkable raw performance, it also leads to increased thermal output, which was evident in the stress test results.

However, it's important to note that stress tests are designed to push the CPU to its limits and do not always reflect real-world performance. In everyday use, typical users are unlikely to encounter such extreme conditions, and the performance under regular usage may differ significantly from these test results.
