TSMC to kick off mass production of Apple's 3nm chip next week
TSMC is getting ready to start mass production of Apple's 3nm chips that will be used within M2 Pro.
According to a new report from DigiTimes, TSMC is ready for 3nm chip production. As reported by the report, Apple will be the first brand to utilize from 3nm process. Within this utilization, we may see new devices with M2 Pro chipset produced with 3nm production process.
TSMC will start mass production of Apple's 3nm chips for Apple M2 Pro
Chip technology continues to advance through new developments. TSMC, which is currently the world's largest chip manufacturer, announced earlier this year that it had managed to reduce the transistor size to 3nm in chip production.
Rumors state that TSMC will hold a ceremony on December 29 to celebrate 3nm chip production and announce its plans to increase 3nm chip production.
According to the reports, M2 Pro chipsets produced with TSMC's 3nm process technology will be used in the MacBook 14, MacBook 16, Mac Studio and Mac Mini that Apple will launch in 2023.
The A17 Bionic chipset, which will most likely be used in the iPhone 15 Pro series, to launch in September next year, will also be a chipset produced with TSMC's 3nm production technology. Report from DigiTimes states:
"TSMC is scheduled to hold a ceremony at Fab 18 at the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) on December 29 to mark the start of commercial production of chips using 3nm process technology. The pure-play foundry will also detail plans to expand 3nm chip production at the fab, according to sources at semiconductor equipment companies."
