In anticipation of the imminent launch of the Xiaomi 14 series, Xiaomi has tantalized tech enthusiasts with a preview of the new models. The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are slated to feature Leica’s esteemed Summilux camera lenses. These lenses are reputed for their superiority, setting them a class apart from the earlier Leica Summicron lenses that graced the Xiaomi 13 series and Xiaomi 12S series. For those unfamiliar, just one Leica Summilux-M 35 f/1.4 lens is priced at a hefty 3895 USD when purchased directly from Leica.

Interestingly, while the Xiaomi 14 series might be the brand's debut into the world of Leica Summilux lenses, these lenses have been gracing smartphones since April 2017. Taking the lead in this innovation was Huawei. The pioneering smartphone to be fitted with this high-caliber Leica Summilux lens was the Huawei P10 Plus.

Released in early 2017, the Huawei P10 Plus stood out as one of Huawei's top-tier models. Powered by the Kirin 960, Huawei's proprietary chipset, this smartphone promised a performance that was both smooth and swift. Its impressive battery capacity of 3750 mAh, coupled with the support for Huawei’s SuperCharge, ensured users could enjoy its features throughout the day without fretting about battery depletion.

Yet, it wasn't just its performance that made the P10 Plus a standout. The camera system was undeniably its pièce de résistance. Both variants of the phone were fitted with a 20MP + 12MP dual camera setup, certified by Leica. The distinction between the standard P10 and the P10 Plus was evident in their camera specifications. While the former had a SUMMARIT-H F2.2 lens, akin to those on the Huawei Mate 9, P9, and P9 Plus, the P10 Plus boasted the superior Leica SUMMILUX-H F1.8 lens, setting it distinctly apart from its sibling.
